Kathryn Miller Haines

Kathryn Miller Haines is an actor, mystery writer, and award-winning playwright. She grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and received her BA in English and Theatre from Trinity University in San Antonio and her MFA in English from the University of Pittsburgh. Currently, she lives in Western Pennsylvania with her husband, Garrett, and their three dogs.
She's a member of the Mary Roberts Rinehart Chapter of Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America. She has used this to her advantage in the three books she has written, all of which feature Miss Winters, including The War Against Miss Winter, Winter in June, and The Winter of Her Discontent. Rosie Winters is a aspiring actress, part-time file clerk, and amateur sleuth in 1942 who investigates her boss's suicide.
Kathryn Miller Haines is currently on staff at the University of Pittsburgh as the associate director of Pitt’s Center for American Music. Also an actress and playwright, Haines has been an active performer in Pittsburgh theater since 1994. Her plays have won several awards from the Pittsburgh New Works Festival, including Best Playwright (2003), Best Production (2004), Best Actress (2001, 2003), and Best Director (2001, 2004). Her play The Mistress was included as part of the 2003 Samuel French Best of Off-Off Broadway Original Short Play Festival.
